The dream is the truth. Then they act and do things accordingly.

It honestly took blood, sweat and tears to discover MY dream.  Not my parent’s dreams, not my partner’s dream, not my best friends’ dream, not instagram dream…MY dream.

I had to search. I had to dig deep. It was tiresome and frustrating because I have spent the majority of my life seeking approval and validation from the universe. So, the moment I sat myself down and thought, “Ok, Teon what do you want.” I was stuck. I was stuck for months. At some points, I dismissed the conversation with myself because there were too many voices in my head and it was difficult for me to find my own.  Eventually, I told myself it doesn’t matter what my dream is…I’ll just live my life the best I can. But that tug at my conscience continued to haunt me tremendously. I saw myself making moves and plans that weren’t mine. I was swirling and spinning and I couldn’t stop.

Through the healing process, I learned techniques to quiet the record player inside my head. It took years for me to decipher my thoughts and my voice from the world’s. I was gentle with myself, I didn’t rush the process and I held myself accountable. I was going to figure this damn  thing out, one way or another.

The dream is the truth. Then they act and do things accordingly.

What is your dream? What are your values. What are the rules you live your life by? Who do you want to be, as a sister, wife, daughter, mother, and friend? What are your fears? What factors do you allow to dim your light? What type of relationships do you want to have with members of your family, community, the world. Who is God. What type of role does He play in your life? What will you accept. What do you expect? How do you love yourself? How do you love others? WHAT IS YOUR TRUTH.

Once the record player stops playing, in the quiet still of the night, you will find the answers your heart longs to know. Write everything down, make sense of the abundance of information. Find your dream and live accordingly to your truth. If you don’t, you will notice yourself, spinning out of control living a life that does not belong to you.

As always, love you, black butterfly, wholeheartedly and truly.”  <3

“Now women forget all those thing don’t want to remember and remember everything they don’t want to forget. The dream is the truth. Then they act and do things accordingly.”
